First Aid Training Processes

First aid training is an invaluable skill that one can obtain. This training is instrumental for any person who undertakes it as well as other individuals that may one-day benefit. First aid training helps you to assist any person who is injured or in an accident until professional help arrives. First aid can be applied in any place like school, the workplace, home, or any public place. There is no fixed time for an accident or an injury. Even after taking potential safety measures, an accident can take place anytime. Therefore, in an emergency, first aid certified people are essential to control the situation. Having people trained in first aid creates a safe community. First aid training is a 3-day course that includes class-based and practical learning, but this short course can save many lives and provide life-saving benefits to the people around you. Throughout your first aid training, you learn from theory and practical based demonstration that will help you in a variety of emergencies. First aid training involves life-saving skills so you can help someone survive until rescue services arrive. 

Knowledge of first aid

The initial stage of first aid training involves an understanding of what first aid is and how it works. A theoretical introduction of first aid and its different aspects is provided. If you have already completed a first aid course before, you could skip this step by doing an advanced first aid course. At the initial stage of any introductory first aid course, you receive information about personal protection equipment (PPE), when and how first aid is administered, injury and sense assessment, and access to six basics that include breathing, bleeding, broken, burn, bites and blows.

Performing CPR and AED

In first aid training, the practical assessment of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is performed to rescue any person who becomes unconscious and stops breathing. This happens because the person’s heart is not pumping at its normal pace. In this situation, CPR is performed through compressing the chest and rescue breaths. CPR is an important life-saving skill that is involved in first aid training in order to keep a person alive until professional medical aid arrives. CPR training also includes important information related to CPR, such as when to perform CPR, the ratio of compression and ventilation, sense assessment, CBA (compressions, airway, and breathing) and other aspects.

How to treat heavy catastrophic bleeding

When someone is bleeding, you have to stop the blood loss before the person loses a significant amount of blood, which can cause the person to die. First aid training teaches you how to apply pressure to the injured part and slow down the bleeding.

Saving a person who is choking 

First aid training involves explaining the signs of choking and how you can save the person who is choking. First aid training also teaches you how to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre or abdominal thrusts. In this process, you have to stand behind the person who is choking and lean the person forward, placing both arms around them and perform up to 5 abdominal thrusts until the stuck object is disclosed.

Treating a burn 

First aid training teaches you how to treat a burn. In first and second degree burns, you can help a person by providing first aid treatment, but in the even of second and third-degree burns, you have to call for instant medical help.

Revive someone from drowning

First aid training also teaches you how to help a person that is unconscious after being rescued from drowning. To revive someone, thrust the jaw open to maintain an open airway and allow the person to breathe. Perform CPR if necessary.
